Chicken Shahi Korma is one of the main south Asian course. It has lots of variation in different parts of Asia. Today we are working one that is great for your ketogenic diet.

What is a Ketogenic diet?

The ketogenic diet is a very low-carb, high-fat diet that shares many similarities with the Atkins and low-carb diets.

It involves drastically reducing carbohydrate intake and replacing it with fat. This reduction in carbs puts your body into a metabolic state called ketosis.

When this happens, your body becomes incredibly efficient at burning fat for energy. It also turns fat into ketones in the liver, which can supply energy for the brain.


  • 4 ts ghee
  • 1 onion- thinly sliced
  • 4 oz. greek yogurt
  • 3 whole cloves
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 3 green cardamom pods
  • 15 oz. skinless chicken thighs or chicken drumsticks
  • 1 ts ginger paste
  • 1 ts garlic paste
  • 1 ts coriander powder
  • 1/2 ts garam masala seasoning
  • 1 ts cumin powder
  • 1 ts chili powder
  • salt- as you like
  • Suger- as you like
  • 1 ts lime juice
  • Fried onion for garnish

How to make Chicken Shahi Korma

Step 1

On a saucepan put 4 ts ghee and deep fry the onions on low-medium heat until it turns a golden brown color.

Step 2

Remove the fried onions from the pan. Add yogurt with it in a blender to get a creamy paste.

Step 3

Reheat the ghee in the saucepan. Once it gets hot add cloves, bay leaf, cinnamon stick, and green cardamom pods. Fry for 30 seconds or until they start to sizzle.

Step 4

Add the chicken thighs and drumsticks. Season thoroughly with salt. Add the ginger and garlic paste, combine well and fry for about 2 minutes.

Step 5

Add chili powder, coriander powder, garam masala, cumin powder, and lime juice. Combine well and fry for 2 more minutes.

Step 6

Add the fried onion yogurt paste, combine well. Add some water. Mix well.

Step 7

Cover and cook for 10-15 minutes. Add sugar and let it cook until the chicken is thoroughly cooked and tender.

Step 8

Add some more fried onion for garnish. Enjoy!
